Best Hikes With Children

Montezuma Wells National Monument
This park is what we call a 'sleeper'. It is not well known.
The few people we met here were friendly and the area was not crowded or packed with tourist buses.
This place was quiet and pleasant - and that
almost always makes for a wonderful visit!

This park qualifies as a four Roo site
For information on the Roo rating system just click on the Roos!

Ranger There was a small booth in the parking lot - but we never saw anyone in it!

picnicThere are no fire pits or picnic tables here. There is a pleasant overlook a short distance from the parking area that would be a nice place for a picnic.

The trail is not very long (under .5 mile one way) but it is not stroller friendly! This short hike has rock stairs and a few drop-offs so please supervise little children well. The walk stops at an overlook of the well - but don't quit here! You can continue down to the water if you head to your right. It's worth the hike.

waterThere is plenty of water to see here - but none to drink!

If you take the hike down to the water you will see native American ruins near the water line. From the bottom - look across the water hole and you will see more ruins

This park is located near Montezuma Castle National Monument  and Tuzigoot National Monument. All three of these parks can be seen in one day!
